The most powerful person in ancient Egypt was the pharaoh. The pharaoh was the political and religious leader of the Egyptian people. As 'Lord of the Two Lands' the pharaoh was the ruler of Upper and Lower Egypt. He owned all of the land, collected
taxes, made laws, and defended Egypt against other countries or intruders.

The Egyptians believed the gods lived in the temples. Only the
priest was allowed to enter the sacred area of the temple and approach the statue representing the god or goddess. The priest’s role was to care for the needs of the god/goddess. They did not try to educate the people on religion or preach, proselytize, or care for a congregation.

Another name for an artisan is a craftsman. This means they are skilled in making things by hand. They make things using clay, wood and fiber, bone, and ivory. They also use metals like tin, copper, gold, bronze, and iron.They created works of art that are still just as impressive today as they were when they were first created.
